Sadly no here. We did get to California and Grand Cayman and up and down east coast more times than I can count. I'm thankful for the area I live in. It's getting built up though
That counts. There are places we still wish to visit, but I don’t say I haven’t traveled just because we haven’t crossed off every country on our list.
How cool you purchased your childhood home. I live across the country from where I grew up, and sometimes miss it. Down the street from my current home, a girl lives in her childhood home. I think it's so nice to be rooted in that way. My house is 1970s but it's actually a pretty modern open floor plan. I wish we had more rooms. I like small, cozy spaces.
Great look at then and now! I currently live in the home next to the one I grew up in. I’m a Real estate broker and sold my childhood home twice in the past ten years. I’ve seen it evolve over time and appreciate when the new owners invite me in for a look. My current neighbors are a young couple who wanted to ensure the 1930’s home retained its charm and invited my Mom, who lived there for 30 years to a Christmas party. While the decor was quite different my Mom loved what they had done and appreciated the visit. She commented that the house felt young again.
That's so wonderful that they appreciated your house and could retain it's charm and that your mom could visit. So many memories for you all too. There is something so special about older homes. Since you live in your old neighborhood have any of your neighbors stated? My 98 year-old neighbor is still here. Cuts his grass on his own too
That's great! There are still some orgional neighbors here too and some of the children grandchildren are buying/inherit their family's houses. You don't see that much anymore
We used ours as playroom for my son. Our house is small and we need all the space we can get. We don't eat in the kitchen but our small sunroom. Cats claimed kitchen too lol
That's so awesome. I'm so glad my mother did that before she passed away. She loved that little room so much. I have so many dream projects. Maybe that's why I am addicted to home improvement shows
What a fun comparison! I lived in several different flats when I was a kid. I recently looked one of them up and found it on a real estate site. It looked amazing and brought back so many memories.
It was fun looking back. I wonder about our houses before, especially the last one when my son was a baby. So many memories. We've been here since he was 3. There is so much sentiment on places we used to live. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences
Love the houses , the older one looks so similar to where i lived with my mom and dad before i was 10 , Newer parts look like a lot of the same changes mt step dad did on the house . Yet you said one thing the stuck with me and i have asked before , What happened to dining rooms ?They used to be family place for dinners or when adults were having company , or holiday dinners ? my mom and dads porch was just like yours in your older pic . Than step dad came and made it enclosed like yours , put in TV . cheap speakers in the roof , a stereo and made it his space . Not like yours yours looks cool . I love new and old , yet getting older not so much lol . So who is the Rush fan ? lol . you the house and everything else looks great . Thank you for sharing Jane , hugs to you and family and peace to all
Thanks Mitch! I saw an article here not long ago about disappearing dining rooms in today’s modern homes. I'll have to look it up.Even in ours which was built in 65. More of the houses have open floor plans or if the do have a dining room it is used for a playroom, office or lego room :) My husband is a huge rush fan. I've grown to appreciate them too as our son. We've seen then several times in concert
Hi Jane ,Yes dining rooms are basically a thing of the past .In some ways I understand it in others not so much .Love the Lego room . Husband and you and son have great taste in music . so how many guitars do they have and what make ? I would love to see a pic of them sometime . Hugs and peace to yoou and family
2 acoustic guitars, Yamaha and one base with amps. One he sold and regrets. Our son can pick up songs online (guitar tabs) and also by ear. Music taste -we had to bring him up right :)
Beautiful!! I lived in many different homes growing up. I loved having to use our imagination back then. Having many family gatherings to which we no longer have. Family is spread all over the country now.
Thanks for restacking @Lori K
I live three blocks from the hospital where I was born, and three blocks from the home I grew up in.
Oh wow! How cool. Did you live anywhere else and move back to the area?
Yes, I have lived all over the country in my life, then came back.
I made it as far as 45 minutes away and then back. Full circle. I used to think I'd travel the world 🌎 😅
Oh, we have traveled the world too.

Thanks! I appetite it and I'm glad we made the move. I like the open floor plans ( great for entertaining) and cozy areas too
Cats always improve a room! Hee! What a neat photo experience. Thanks!
They do. A house isn't a home without pets!!

There are some original neighbors still close by and it’s wonderful to see them and speak with them. It’s also nice to welcome new people to the area!

No you don’t, but when it happens it’s lovely.
It really is
It was so cool seeing the then and now! Surprised that dining rooms are phasing out. I can’t imagine living in a house without one!

My dream project is turning our deck into an enclosed room!! 😍 love it!

There are lots of tabs and songs on line that is for sure. Sorry he had to sell one . I am sure he learned well . Hugs and peace to you and family
Thank you

Thankful we grew up when we did. I miss those family gatherings I used to complain avoid. What's left of my family is spread out.
