I’m on the right helping my baby brother
My husband and I purchased my childhood home in 2010 soon after my mom passed away. Check out the then and now.
Being an older home, there’s still so much we would like to update. They don’t build houses like they used to though.
Check out part one here ;)

Dining room
Our dining room was where we had our family gatherings. On special occasions we were allowed to eat our nightly snack AND watch TV. Before you get jealous, our TV choices were Sonny & Cher or Lawrence Welk. Many newer homes seem to be phasing out dining rooms.
Now
Our dining room is now our Lego room
Our cats enjoy it too
Porch
Then and now
Back porch then or patio as we called it. It was perfect for building a fort. We didn't have fancy or expensive toys then, so we used our imagination and created with whatever was on hand. It was a blessing
I’m on the left and my sister is on the right
Now
Our favorite room of the house! We eat almost all of our meals and enjoy gatherings with friends and family here.
Livingroom
“Lil Jane’ in the 1970s. Don't mess with her when she needs a nap. Then or now
Notice the paneling and built in bookshelf behind Brownie and myself. Talk about 1970s staples! It was also a good place for Encyclopedia Brittanica. If you were a child of the 70s and 80s you will know.
Now
Paneling is painted and cds instead of books. My husband proudly showcases his cd collection. He doesn’t want to part with them. I can’t either!! Our son thinks they are retro. This is our “music nook” in our small living room. The guys have their guitars in the corner
Back yard
Winter in 1970s
It was a working farm at the time.
Thanks for restacking @Lori K
I live three blocks from the hospital where I was born, and three blocks from the home I grew up in.
