Proof that no matter how old we get, there are lessons to be learned. And we don’t learn them without mistakes being made. I say it a lot, but stay true to yourself. Be who you are, honest, real, emotional. Physicality is one thing, but it’s the inner beauty that really counts. That you have…no doubt.
I am living a similar reality. I’ve given up my body-snug tops for loose tanks, and fight the rolling of my yoga pant waistbands each day I teach a class. I don’t want to update my fitness photos, though I know my core is just as strong under my additional insulation. (I have use magic erasure on photos—sometimes my curls are a bit crazy and need some taming in the photo😂).
Jane, I have to admit that I have used filters on some of my nature photography that is bland.
And as far as magic eraser goes, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could use that I would be racing all the dots all over my legs that I call a bowl of corn flakes that I spilled on them. My dermatologist thought that was hysterical. And why I’m at it I would like to erase the wrinkles off of my face and the dark circles under my eyes. Oh, don’t get me started.
As women, I believe we are all so hard on ourselves. And sorry to say even at this old age I’m guilty. One of my daughters when I complain about something immaterial about myself says mom why do you worry so much after all your 77. She’s right darn it, I hate it when your children have to explain the facts of life to you. I hope this brings a chuckle to your beautiful face Jane.
Guilty too with nature photos, just to make color pop or have fun!
Too funny about the cornflakes. Seriously, I think erasing takes away what makes us unique
It is diffult as a woman though. Marketing doesn't help and what society focuses on too.
Aww. There is no age at all to stop worrying! My grandmother was 100 and she wanted to wear her lipstick and hair styled! I hope I can so that if I'm lucky enough to live anywhere close to that.
I used to worry about how I looked in photos, and sometimes I still do. I don’t filter photos of myself anymore because I’ve learned that lighting can make a big difference in how pronounced my wrinkles look. Some lighting makes me look old and haggard, so I’ve sticking with softer lighting these days.
Lighting can be huge and angles I'm learning. So many times I have a cute photo and I look happy, but I forgot to put make up or reapply. Lol. Can't win. I think because I'm in the moment and that what counts not filters.
I truly appreciate you commenting and reading my post!
Well, as a woman in her 60… you look great. I hate my jowls… and the moles and spots that decided to. Sprout all over.Age is always springing something new oh us… like racing to the bathroom whenever you h@ve gas because…surprise, it wasn’t. Damn and now I am wearing granny panties!
When did I get to be an old lady? I swear I still feel as if my internal age stopped at 35!
As a woman in her 50s, I get it. I'll touch up minor things in my photos, like a blemish, and maybe apply a soft focus filter, but that's all.
As a photographer, I have a different perspective. I stopped doing portraits because most women were never happy with the results. I refused to Photoshop the crap out of images to make 60ish women look 30ish again. Some of them found photographers to do that for them, but the pictures looked like crap. I mean, you couldn't even see their eyes clearly!
It gets to the point where it looks freaky, I think. The photos lose the human quality and the trueness of the person. I see woman much younger than me doing that and I think. Why??
When I erased my stomach I thought wow for a second and then it felt really sad. I wasn't expecting to feel that at all.
I appreciate you sharing your experience especially from a photographers perspective.

Rolling yoga pants! That's a phenomenon I've started to notice😩
I always wanted naturally curly hair!

Thanks, Diana!
Oh noo! Not good. Yikes!
I feel like I'm still 25 most days and I don't recognize the lady in mirror!!
I think we are as young as we feel though
