We are islands
living deep inside our heads
blindly we pass each other
in our dream worlds
as lives around us unfurl
Stories that will never unfold
So much untold.
We imagine an inner dialogue
that sinks us deeper into a bog
Distance grows day by day
When you monitor what you say
The walls go up
The fortress in place
Keep them away
it won’t hurt if you keep them at bay
The pain seeps through like blood
when you suppress so much love
Day after day
we all pass each other
stuck in our heads
our hearts longing
when deep inside
we are searching for belonging.
