you've seen the goddess with-in

You gaze at me, like I'm a goddess

My love, my husband

It’s something I’ll never understand

it can be in the morning, when my hair is a mess

and days I feel like I’m less

I know you will always keep me above

that is true love

You’ve seen many different women in me

the young girl, so lean

the one you fell in love with when she was seventeen

the beautiful woman, tanned, and toned in her twenties

that turned heads, only she didn’t see

her fleeting beauty

that woman that became mother

later in life

you were always proud to say she was your wife

Your eyes caress my imperfect body

I know it is perfect in your eyes

you love my curves you say

I don’t want you any other way

You see my body that

grew our child and

loved selflessly

for our family

“Will I be beautiful when I’m old?” I say

“Always?” he whispered, tears in his eyes

“Why?” I ask wanting to believe.
