Tart cherry juice! Yes! I need to get more of that. I didn't know about black pepper for absorption. The age thing to but isn't it quality of life? There is no guarantee that we could live another 15 years. My dad only had a few years left at my age. My grandparents all lived well over 90 so it's a crap shot. Who knows of the technology they will have in the next few years
I rub essential oils on sore areas. Many doctors consider that joint pain is really osteomyelitis, an infection/inflammation of the joints. I am 70 years old and don't have any arthritis, but I used to.
This includes old athletic tears in the football knee, which currently has no pain.
Most of the medical folks promote their own illusions to their patients and don't consider joint infections. They also have to do whatever the CDC advises. Dangerous that.
Fungus, virus and bacteria are the main pathogens that promote most joint pain. These will move around, so one has to stay on top for new development. Doctors won't tell you that pains move around, eh? But...they certainly do.
Pine essential oil is recommended for osteomyelitis. Rub it in for 10 minutes or more, on each spot.
Or use lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and oregano oils for a different smell. They all kill or move pathogenic areas.
The pathogens can develop intelligence via chemical quorum sensing, etc., and move away from distress. Not common knowledge.
Jane, You are courageous! Thanks for sharing how you're managing your osteoarthritis and tendonitis. I have quite a bit of arthritis in my left knee. It was only bothersome once I lifted a heavy box in the wrong direction last December. Something seemed to slip, and I was in constant pain. I've now done a series of physical therapy treatments, which has helped, but it cannot make the arthritis in my knee disappear. I've bought a stationary bike, too, and a friend is putting it together for me. My problem is that I dislike exercise! I'm doing small bits and trying to build up. Pools are generally too cold for me, and I don't get on well with chemicals like chlorine. Thanks for sharing your routine. You've inspired me to keep going.
Thanks so much for commenting. I don't feel like it some days, but I power through. I'm so sorry your dealing with all of that! Is your meniscus ok? That was some of my issue, goes hand in hand with Osteo, that and running though an injury. Pt does help. I can't remember if you were able to get gel injections. They helped me. Small bits of exercises are good. I switch up so I don't get bored. Good luck with everything. I truly appreciate your support and being here. I enjoy chatting with you
Jane, Just arthritis. My left knee has been in two car accidents, which I think has made it more susceptible. And I'm older than you, so part of it is just age. Thank goodness for a decent right knee! Thanks for your support.
Oh no. The car accidents. I'm so sorry to hear. I fell on my knee roller skating as a teen and I've always been active as well. I was told I'd have knee problems some day. I thought yeah when I'm 80. Wrong!!!
Hey Jane, my name is Aaron and I'm just 21 years old. Nevertheless, I've been struggling with knee pain for a while now. The reason for this is an ossification in my knee (Osgood Schlatter's disease) which causes my patellar tendon to become inflamed very quickly. I play football in my spare time and haven't been able to do it properly for months now. I stretch and strengthen my lower body every day and have already made progress. Nevertheless, I still have pain in my knee when I bend it a lot. It's very frustrating but I'm not giving up and hope to get it completely under control in the near future. Thank you for your story, it's always nice to see that others fight through such problems and don't give up. 🙏🏻
Thanks so my for reading my post and commenting. I'm so sorry you're going through that, especially at such a young age. I can't imagine how frustrating that is with being active. I'm glad to hear that you're making progress. You got this! Lots if good info on your page and I just subscribed:)
Dairy, eggs, and corn can also be inflammatory culprits. In addition to turmeric (with black pepper for absorption), and Omega 3s, tart cherry juice and pineapple can also help. I have a patient for whom tart cherry juice has gotten rid of her arthritis pain in her hands.
The reason you are too young for knee replacement is because they only last 15 years or so. If you have it done too soon, you'll have to get it again when you are 70 or so. Honestly, I think it's stupid because your knees are shot now. Now is when you'll recover best from surgery.
Anyway, it sounds like you are doing everything right. PT is so helpful for strength and stability, and Kineseotape can work amazingly well.
Thanks so much Lori. A year ago I was devastated. It happened so fast. I also had guilt because I was grieving this when other people were suffering worse conditions. It was and is still grieving. You xan grieve your body and life as you knew it. This had effected my mobility, my business, my income to name a few. I am learning to make lemonade of lemons. It's a process though. I found writing again through this, restructuring my business and eating healthier. There are silver linings
Oh yeah, that silly comparison B.S. we put ourselves through can be a tough one to work through for sure. Such a process. Always a silver lining poking its way through. 🥰
Yes, and there’s no room for comparison anyway. I can’t stand the comparison game at all. It’s invalidating when we do it to ourselves and when we hear it from others.
I'm so sorry, Mark. Disk problems are challenging. I hope you can find relief. My husband gets injections for his. It takes the edge off the pain that's it
I’m on a modified fitness routine since my surgery. I used to work with a personal trainer on a weekly basis and also did barre-inspired workout videos. I own an exercise bike as well. Right now, I’m mostly on said bike, walking and working with very light weights (3 lbs). I was using weights as heavy as 15 lb before. It’ll take time for me to get back up.
Actually, I could leg press my own body weight but that’s when I’m with a trainer. What I can do with a trainer around and what I can do on my own are really different.
No thank you , for many reasons . 1 This post might help me move better than I do .2 It really helped you a lot . so re sharing in notes . Hugs and peace
Jane, I feel your pain. I am just waiting on shoulder surgery for a dislocated bicep and torn subscapular. I have Fibro and Osteoarthritis and lots of tendon issues. PT helps for me but not always doable with the Fibro.
I'm so sorry Pam. Wishing you the best. It sounds so painful. Good luck with surgery and please keep us posted. I have fibro as well and that does add to the challenge
You’re doing what you can. I have gone through plenty of the things similar to what you’re going through. I’m a little bit older than you, so I was able to do the knee replacement after having a couple of gel shots. Yet, the back is stiff, the wrists and elbows are sore, the good knee is starting to lock up, the replaced knee is stiff more than not along with nerve damage in it that was explained beforehand that could possibly happen. My rehab therapist told me up front that I’d never kick myself in the butt with my right leg ever again - not that I did that regularly but I got her point. My goal was functionality. I have it ! The knee replacement beats the snot out of the arthritic pain with constant throbbing and my leg bowing out. Warm weather helps things - cold and damp days are the pits !
You figure out things you can do and stick with it. Could be just a walk, yoga, simple exercises. Maybe for shorter periods. Do the things you like and make the pain worth it. It sounds a little hopeless, but it’s really not. We’re all aging and that doesn’t help, but it is a fact of life. As most of us age we just can’t do the things we could when we are younger. The mind says yes, the bones, joints, tendons and ligaments say, no, nope, nah nah, no way. Getting the mind to accept and adjust to the limits is hard.
You’ve got your coaches, therapists and those close to you pushing and encouraging you. Talk it over with them, but the reality is that the 70% you speak of may just be the new max. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just understanding your limits and capabilities. A lot is just attitude and adjustment and the will to at least feel normal if not actually getting there.
You’re doing great. Keep moving forward. You’re still pretty young, look great and have lots of good to look forward to. Hang in there !!!!
Thanks Ken. I'm so glad to hear your knee replacement helped you somewhat. Accepting limitations aren't easy, but they are limitations and it doesn't mean you can't be active at all. I think 70% isn't bad. I think I've maxed out though and that's OK.
The mind does not accept getting older lol. You're so right!
Motion is Lotion. Did your physical therapist tell you that? Mine did! We just have to keep moving. I've been in a gym most of my life...I go at least 3 times a week. Lots of weight lifting. So valuable for my mental health, too. We get older, our parts go out of warranty. Cant escape it. Just gotta make modifications. You're doing everything right! 👏👏👏👏
Yes. I am on my feet pretty much as it is being a dog walker. It's the uneven surfaces with the shredded meniscus is a challenge. You know what the roads are like in this state lol. I have been active my entire life. I was lifting probably too much weight and not giving enough time to heal before the shoulder issue. My pt says she has to worry about me doing too much exercise and not enough

I avoid doctors; only once in 25 years. Physician, Heal Thyself. (Hippocrates).
Eating right demotes infection.

Peace and Health.
That's something I didn't look into. There are so many reasons for joint pain. I never tried pine oil. Thanks for the info
see my update on that note.
Thanks, Steven

You can't be much older than me if at all. I didn't see your age
Try almost two decades!
😮
Oh no. The car accidents. I'm so sorry to hear. I fell on my knee roller skating as a teen and I've always been active as well. I was told I'd have knee problems some day. I thought yeah when I'm 80. Wrong!!!
If we only knew the true consequences that come from car accidents, we'd ask for a million dollars for "pain and suffering."

Yes it is, my physiotherapist was the one who recommended I give it a try.
The wondrous thing is of i take it scalding hot shower and the needling there are times where i can be pretty functional for over two weeks at a time.
Thanks for the info on that

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! Sounds like you’re doing absolutely everything you can. Sending virtual hugs my friend.

Comparing one grief to another's is unfair to ourselves and I worry what other's think. I can still walk etc. Still our losses are unique to us
Yes, and there’s no room for comparison anyway. I can’t stand the comparison game at all. It’s invalidating when we do it to ourselves and when we hear it from others.
So true Lori! I do this so much
Three Discs in my neck. Its been hell.
I no longer have a regular workout. I just try to do my best.
I'm so sorry, Mark. Disk problems are challenging. I hope you can find relief. My husband gets injections for his. It takes the edge off the pain that's it
Thanks Jane
I go for needling treatments. Usually between every two and four weeks. Sometimes it really really helps a lot.
I've heard of needling. Is that related to acupuncture? Need to Google lol

I think it does help more with a trainer or physical therapist! I thought it was just me lol
Those are some of the best exercises. It takes time to build up again but you will. Wishing you a continued recovery
your doing great Jane ,We are all proud of you . I will try some of the things you mentioned . Hugs and peace
Thanks Mitch!
