If I were pretty, would you ask me to play
instead of walking away?
If I were pretty, would I get picked first
instead of being told I was the worst?
If I were pretty would the teacher choose me
and tell me how wonderful I must be?
Would adults smile and be admiring
instead of thinking I was conspiring?
If I were pretty, would you pick me to dance
instead of walking by without a glance?
They say looks don’t matter
then why all of the chatter
about how she should look
instead of asking her about that book?
May be some day
it won’t matter what they say
For now, you aren’t fooling me
because I can see
what a shallow place
the world can be
Great poem. Everyone can be beautiful but real beauty comes from the inside. ❤️
I don’t think we really start living until we’re in our 40s and 50s. We need to experience life and go through its ups and downs walk through the fire, swim through the floods, and stand up in the tremendous winds, and only Life can teach us that.
We weather the storms, and we build strength and courage, and become resilient.
@jane Deegan- I’m a little bit older than you but I didn’t want to say happy birthday in advance and hope it’s the best one ever 🎉 I tried and it wouldn’t let me post under your reply so I’m posting it here.
Blessings to everyone 🤗💕🎉
