Beautiful writing and memories Jane. I loved going to Atlantic City, ocean city and Cape May in New Jersey as a young mother and a few times actually while living at the orphanage we went to, and I don't remember which one it was, but Grace Kelly's beach house.
Thanks so much, Kathleen. Cape May is our go to. We got spoiled there. Went to Wildwood last year, definitely not the same. I like the beaches further south but it's a drive
We stayed in Wildwood crest. On a budget last year, we spent more time in Cape May beaches anyway and Cape May. It was a hotel I think that was part if it. Air bnbs seem much more worth it. Are you still living in the east coast?
Lovely, the beach is my happy place, and where l still go to let the inner child nurture me. I lived by a bayside beach in Melbourne, so my childhood was spent there. Summers were great. And Melbourne is only 2 hours from our iconic surf coast. I don’t live too far from that coast now. Thanks for prompting those memories. 😊
Hi Simone! Thanks so much for reading and commenting. That had to be so wonderful living there. I’ve never been to Australia. Summer sounds nice right now. We are in the deep freeze in the northern hemisphere
I would love to visit all the iconic music locales, starting with Nashville. Gilliam Welsh and David Rawlings are here atm, seeing them Thursday night, what a treat 🙏🏼💜
Beautiful, Jane. Reminds me of a summer in Rehoboth Beach many, many summers ago with all my cousins. I must have been around 10 or 11, I think? Great memories.
Wonderful essay Jane! My summer vacations with my family started with camping at a local state park, Sandy Point, then we camped up in Maine at Hermit Island and finally we rented a cottage every summer in Cape Cod. I enjoyed Cape Cod, because the water is warmer than the local beaches.
Thanks so much, Pamela! It looks like I answered to myself 🤦♀️. That sounded wonderful. I always wanted to visit Maine. I've been close though. Cape Cod is beautiful. Hope to get back again
Very cool. Yeah, I have lots of memories of the boardwalk. For a while we were going there as adults with our families as well. It was cool to see our daughter do some of the things I grew up doing.
Ah yes Daytona! Well my family drove on the beach lol. I have many Florida memories. Both sets of grandparents (wintered there) and my sister lived in Florida for several years. So we were able to visit Floriday and have a place to stay, lol
Coco Beach and on the gulf (my favorite) St. Pete’s Beach.
My grandfather moved there when he retired. He lived in Missouri but had a spot in Fort Meyers, so he decided to move to Florida and decided on Daytona Beach. Every time I go, I drive by his old house. It is still there but has been upgraded a few times. I was born and raised in Arkansas but live in Georgia now.
That's not too bad. We had highs in teens for a few days and lows sub zero. Usually we are about 40 or 50 for highs the past few years with milder winters
Thanks so much, Mike. I'm happy you were able to recall some of your childhood memories at the beach on this cold day. I appreciate you reading and commenting
And keep everything you have written...
Thanks
Authentic. Truth. Family and pleasure to live and to be on the beach. I know the sea side between Nice and Cannes. Beach is pleasant.
English people discovered Nice a long time ago. And Cannes is the place to be if you are actrice or actor
Thanks so much for sharing! Sounds like a beautiful place

Oh Jane, I forgot we went to Wildwood a lot also. Haven't been to any of those beaches in such a long time.

Wonderful memories! I enjoyed reading this and needed a little reminder of warm beaches on this cold day 🥶
Thanks, Darcy! That’s why I had to repost it. I originally posted that here in June but we need some summer now!!

I have never been to the states either, l would like to, one day. I will make sure it is Summer 🤣🙏🏼💜
Definitely wouldn't want to be in the northern US now. Florida is always nice, except in summer
I would love to visit all the iconic music locales, starting with Nashville. Gilliam Welsh and David Rawlings are here atm, seeing them Thursday night, what a treat 🙏🏼💜
My husband went to Nashville. It's a city that never sleeps
That's so awesome!! Enjoy!

Thanks Maria! I've been to Rehoboth a few times as an adult I liked the tax free shopping!

Jane, I highly recommend coastal Maine. It's all wonderful! The Cape is beautiful, but Maine is very special.
My sister-in-law loves Acadia in Maine
It’s a beautiful federal park!
Loved this Jane. Our one week family vacation every summer growing up was to the Jersey shore.
Nice! Which beaches did you go to?
Our daughter is in HS but I still can’t wrap my head around it. Getting old is a blessing but it sure is weird!!
It really is. Mine will be 18. We had him older at 38 and husband 40.
Grandchildren. Hard to wrap my head around that 🤣
Well. I have a few years on you I'm sure. Many my age are grandparents!! My husband and I have a son that is a Jr in high school so in 10, 15 years

That's awesome! It's wonderful to re-live childhood though our children. It's a gift. Maybe some day grandchildren
Mostly Ocean City and Sea Isle
Nice OC has the board walk, I remember. My uncle had and still has a place in Sea Isle
My place was Cape May —a lot longer ago—but also wonderful memories
Oh, yes! We love Cape May! That is our go no family vacation place now. I haven’t been to Beach Haven in many years
Really nice memories. It brought me back to my time in Daytona Beach Florida when we used to vacation there when I was younger.

Are you a Florida Native @Paul McCutchen ?

How nice! Florida and Georgia sound nice right now, but I heard you are getting some colder weather too.
The lows at night are in the mid 20’s but the highs during the day are in the mid 50’s and going up……for now,
That's not too bad. We had highs in teens for a few days and lows sub zero. Usually we are about 40 or 50 for highs the past few years with milder winters
Beautifully written, Jane! I could almost feel the waves. 🤍
Thanks so much!! Happy memories
Super cool Jane! I really enjoyed this, and reliving your childhood memories (and calling memory to some of mine also at the beach).
YES, I remember newspapers! 😆
Thanks so much, Mike. I'm happy you were able to recall some of your childhood memories at the beach on this cold day. I appreciate you reading and commenting
This post is so good Jane I actually got Deja Vu about my childhood vacations. I really enjoyed reading it 😊!
Thanks, Peter! I think we all need a little of that now. Childhood, summer...sigh
I could not agree with you more Jane
Very nice, Jane! I enjoyed reading it.
Thanks so much C.J. I needed a little summer today ;)
With winter going the way it has been this year, we all need a little summer! 😁😁😮😮❤️
For sure!!
😁😁💞❤️
That sounds so nice, Pam. I've never been to Maine - on my bucket list. Cape cod is beautiful! It's been years though.
