This wall

around us all

built brick by brick

hiding what we think

Separated by screens

so many dreams

Hiding our fears

our tears

for so many years

A wall protects

it also rejects

Nothing is perfect

I thought the wall would be

Yet, the wall is so high

Do they hear our cries

where we hide?

It’s becoming dark

these feelings so stark

There is a way out

but I hold onto doubt

Cracks in the wall

let the sunlight in

and the healing will begin

One day the ground rumbles

the wall starts to crumble

pieces fall

one by one

letting in slivers of sun

It took years to build this wall

and longer for it to fall
