Chapter 43
Marissa opened the door for Tad, and not wasting a moment, she handed him the divorce papers. “You’ve been served,” she said coldly.
Tad looked down at the papers and then up at her. “Marissa,” he said his voice becoming soft, “let’s talk first.”
“I have nothing to say to you Tad,” Marissa said and folded her arms tightly against herself. He would never hurt her again.
He chuckled and looked her up and down. “Well, it looks like you are finally taking care of yourself.”
Marissa ignored him and handed him a pen.
He shook his head and signed the papers.
Tad sighed and handed the papers back to Marissa. “She didn’t mean anything to me, you know,” he said.
Marissa ignored him and walked into the kitchen.
Tad shook his head and headed upstairs to collect his belongings. He turned around and looked at her.
“You know Marissa, we had a good thing going. The kids, maybe we should talk about that. It will hurt them.”
“It’s too late for that now Tad. You should have thought about that before you started fucking her,” Marissa said and handed him a large storage container.
Tad took the container and slowly started walking up the stairs.
“I'll give you a half hour, then I’m calling the cops,” Marissa warned him.
Tad turned and smirked at her before continuing to walk upstairs.
Barney caught a glimpse of his angel Rissa by the window. The pine trees partially obscured his view. He felt for the gun in his jacket pocket. He was all set.
Marissa heard a noise again outside and her dog Pickles yapped. Now what? She glanced outside and noticed a cat run into the bushes. Pickles yapped again. Marissa opened the door to let him out and noticed the cool night air felt good on her face. She could not stand being in the same house with that lying asshole one more minute.
Marissa looked up at the night sky from her patio. So many stars. There were many things that didn’t make sense in this world. Pickles started to bark again. Probably that cat! Marissa opened her mouth to yell his name and then she saw a shadow behind her. She felt a searing pain as a rock smashed the back of her head before it all went black.

Will there be more?
Omg…what a cliffhanger! I cannot wait for the next chapters!
