Amanda blinked and looked at the test again. “No!” she said aloud when she saw the two pink lines. Pregnant!
She was horrified to think she’d lose her figure but at the same time, maybe Tad would realize she was what he wanted. It was added insurance too, and a distraction from the Natalia Novita court case.
Hearing a car door, Amanda glanced out the window. Finally, he arrived. She didn’t like that he was coming here later and later each night.
She couldn’t wait to tell him the news.
Tad walked in and gave her a hug.
“Where were you?” Amanda asked kissing him.
Tad raked his fingers through his dark hair. “You know, I’m busy with the case reopening!”
He tossed his bag on the table.
She couldn’t wait to tell him the news.
“Well,” Amanda began, “I have some news for you.”
Tad smiled weakly and sighed.
“What’s wrong, Babe?” Amanda asked.
Tad motioned to the couch without making eye contact. “We need to talk,” he said.
Judging by the look on his face, she didn’t like where this was going.
Amanda sat down next to Tad on the couch.
“What’s up?” Amanda asked, forcing her voice to remain calm.
Tad took a deep breath. “We need to cool it for a while, Amanda. At least until the divorce is finalized. If they have any suspicion of infidelity, I could lose the Novita court case and not to mention custody of my children.”
Amanda couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “What? How would anyone prove this?”
Tad got up and walked across the room. “Easy, Amanda. I’m spending a lot of time here. I’m being followed.”
“A detective?” Amanda could feel the rage rising up inside her.
“Yes. I noticed the same car a few times around and then I found this,” Tad dropped a small black object on the table.
“What’s that?” she asked.
“A tracker. Marissa is having me followed. I’m not sure how long, but enough to cause suspicion. As a lawyer, I know it would not look good for my case.”
Tears filled Amanda’s eyes. She angrily blinked them away as a lump grew in her throat.
Tad kissed her on the forehead. “Be patient,” he whispered as he walked back to the bedroom to pack his few items.
Amanda stood there, her eyes opened wide, she would not cry. She was a strong woman. When there were obstacles in her way she would take care of them just like before. Other women knew better than to stand in her way.
I wonder how this is gonna go now that she's pregnant
