She Sat Alone
The old lady in the second pew
She sat alone
yet in view
the old lady
in the second pew
She had tried
inside she cried
She wonders if she will be ok again
she longed for a friend
Words locked deep
inside she will keep
Those battles secretly fought
left her distraught
She wanted to reach out
mind in a round about
Internal wounds
you don’t see
yet, you missed her money
Her words finally came out
only to be met with doubt.
Then she was shamed
for no longer playing
the game.

"The game" is played with most older adults including myself. You want to help, if help is truly needed but when help is not needed, they just stand with their hands out.
Don't play the game!
