Once upon a time the water was rough
blue water ahead
it could be unsafe
so beautiful
you felt alive
then water turned to blood
you couldn’t breathe
you couldn’t get out
You were bit
You are wiser now
Let’s dip your feet again
the water comes up higher
the sharks are near
for now, it all looks clear.
“It’s OK. Go ahead”
the wind whispers seductively
“you can get out in time.”
you walk in deeper
legs get stuck
you can get out
it’s not too late
but this is your fate
you’ve been bit
the sharks eyes are cold
so many stories untold
you have to get OUT!
you don’t want to
you have to
before the teeth sink deeper
don’t be swept away
by the pain the mind creates
