Happy 58th birthday to my husband Mike. Thank you for being my partner in life!
Jane: How does it feel being 58?
Mike: It’s a mixed blessing. I’m thankful to be old enough to be retired from the US Postal Service, yet young enough to try something else.
It stinks having back issues, but it’s the only time I feel my age. Other than that, I see myself in my 20s or 30s.
Jane: How is 58 different from when your parents were your age?
Mike: Our parents were from a generation that seemed to be set in their ways. They didn’t appear to be as physically active or open to new ideas. For example, I enjoy listening to listening to a lot of new bands that my son, Evan has introduced me to.
Jane: How do you share your love of music with your son, Evan?
Mike: My biggest thrill is going to a concert with our son, Evan. On Saturday Nights sometimes we listen to each other’s music. Evan didn’t listen to typical “kid’s” music growing up. I would like to think my taste of music influenced him.
Jane: Where do you think your love of music came from?
Mike: My dad listened to Jazz as I was growing up. I think that shaped my music appreciation as I got older.
Jane: Speaking of your dad, you also share the same birthday! What was it like sharing a birthday with your dad?
Mike: It was cool, especially since I was the youngest of 5 by far. Sharing a birthdate with my dad gave me another special bond with him.
Jane: In your 58th year do you have any goals would like to achieve?
Mike: I want to enter a business partnership with my wife Jane Deegan with her pet sitting business.
I want to become a stronger cyclist and get closer to my 4K miles in a year. It’s not the numbers as much as I want to become stronger over all
I also want to reduce stress
Most importantly I want to have a balanced relationship with Jane and Evan with my cycling goals.
Jane: What are your biggest blessings
Mike: My wife, Jane, our son, our pets, family and our friends. I am grateful for the good friends in my life that I can’t count on. I am also thankful for our loving families we have.
Jane: Do you have a favorite quote?
Mike: “What is the most excellent thing I can try to do today” by Neil Peart.
Mike and his crew after the city to shore ride.
Happy birthday, Mike. I’m so proud of you!!
Happy birthday, Mike.
