One summer day
I wanted to get away
if only in my mind
a space in time
no phone
and let my mind roam
I relaxed in my chair
I wanted to be there
and let the moments pass
there in the green grass
Then I noticed an inchworm so small
climbing blades of grass so tall
trying to make his place
in this space
discovering
uncovering
one blade at a time
I dozed off
the hum
of a summer afternoon
around me
Behind my closed eyes
the colors looked peach
a moment in reach
My eyes slowly opened
I gazed around
grateful for this moment I found
Not too far away
over there
napping in a chair
my neighbor, 99 years old
with many stories to be told
He saw many summers
and now he watched another
I nodded off again too
and the inch worm
climbed another grass blade
in the afternoon shade
Beautifully captured calm of the moment.🌞
Jane, the beauty and stillness of nature you portray it so beautiful
