He became a father soon after losing his own father
Mike became a father only 2 weeks after his own father passed away. The day his dad passed away; Mike told his dad that he had a secret for him. In confidence told him the names of his grandson or granddaughter that we had chosen.
Later, the rest of our family prodded my father-in-law to see if he knew the name of his future grandchild he mouthed “I'm not telling.” And he smiled knowingly.
Is this handsome man a doctor? No, it’s my husband and partner in life. Here he is after being up all night, looking cool and collected. What was in that coffee, Mike? 😄
Bringing our son into the world
I ended up having an emergency c-section after being in labor for 14 hours. I was so scared. Mike held my hand as they performed the procedure. I knew we would get through this together. He has a sense of calmness that always made me feel safe. He balances me out and grounds me. His calmness and patience are one of the things that I admire in him so much as a father and a person.
Mike holding our newborn son
“I'm so proud of you.”
Mike got to witness his son being brought into the world. He even got to cut the umbilical cord.
After giving birth via c-section, which had to look like the movie Alien, Mike turned to me and said with complete awe and appreciation “I am so proud of you!” That was the nicest complement I've ever received
He felt the pain from losing his own father melt as he held our newborn son
Mike got to hold our new son first because of my procedure. When he held Evan for the first time Mike said he felt all of the pain go away that he had after losing his own father and it was replaced by love for our son.
