Further Away
She drifted every day
fell into a haze
a daze
into a screen
a dream
far away from
what was real
she only wanted to feel
Drifting away
further each day
Only she didn’t see
how far away they could be
until one day they were gone
It was a new dawn
She looked around
nowhere to be found
Slip into a haze
or face the day?
Reality
familiarity
or be pulled back
to the bay
so far away
I wrote this last night at 1 a.m. Sometimes we don’t realize how far we have drifted away from others. The glow of the screen is alluring. Numbing. It’s easy to hide out there and avoid sometimes. It bites us in the end though.
Can we find our way back into old connections when we wake up or is it time to move on?
Yes, I have drifted so far….. friends? Just because they “like” a post on social media makes them believe thats all the interaction one requires. But, your poem-beautiful 🌸
So true! We are obsessed with screens. I read your lovely poem and immediately called a friend!
