Does the World Sleep?
6 am vapor trails
that cross the sky
A helicopter
flies
and passes them by
Cars whisper
Louder still
Around in stereo
Golf carts whirl
Scattering squirrels
Geese protest
Unrest
Louder
Competing
Then retreating
Machinery
Louder cars
Near and far
All getting ready for a new day
on constant play
Meanwhile
the sun silently appears
from the horizon
Sleep ??? What’s that ???

My grandfather told me that since the earth was always sleeping with one eye open. Didn't figure it out till later in life. As the earth turns one part is in the sun while the other is in the dark.
