When I was younger, everyone called me the hostess with the mostest. I miss those days, good times. But truthfully, it’s so understandable how worn out you can get. Have fun tomorrow Jane and give yourself a lot of breathing room.

Jane, I can really relate to this one. We had family over for a barbecue yesterday and I started at 10 o’clock in the morning preparing food until 5 o’clock and dinner was at seven. Everyone had a very enjoyable time and the food was delicious but after everyone left, I was exhausted and somewhat grumpy. Today, was a little more relaxing, thank goodness

I feel all of this. As wonder as it is sometimes I am exhausted before the party starts!! Glad you can take time to relax. We need to recharge

Yes I feel that too. I think our energy needs to recalibrate after big events and those feelings we experience are part of that recalibration 🌻

Exactly! We need to give ourselves permission to do so. That is the difficult part for myself anyway

Restack worthy!

I didn't realize it until more recently, but the reason I felt low after parties is because I would spend about an hour berating myself for whatever I did I felt I had to pick apart - did I laugh too much? Did I not laugh enough? Did I seem awkward? Etc etc!

Once I realized I was taking part in this behavior and it was only exhausting me and making me not want to go to parties, I worked on changing it. Once I saw it I couldn't unsee it. Now I feel energized afterwards instead of drained.

The berating part! I do that and the grief I feel for not being able to spend as much time with everyone, especially friends I only see once or twice a year

Thanks so

For sharing your perspective on this!!

LIfe goes up and down, expansion and contraction. After a high, you feel a low. It's the natural flow of things. Learning to ride the waves is the challenging part.

Yes…. With you. That let down after hosting. All that energy, time, effort. You know. But we do it again and again. 😊
